How are you thinking about knowledge management and context engineering? In some ways it seems to parallel the data engineering lifecycle, but also it diverges and sometimes calls for more governance/permission management so that meaning reflects decision rights to create meaning and isn’t just defined by whoever takes the time to engage with definition work.
FoDE was one of the first reads that really helped me conceptualize my career path, what I had been doing and what I wanted to do in the future. Will forever be grateful to you and Matt 🙏
Happy 4th Birthday to FoDE (Fear of Data Engineering)?? It is still as relevant today as it was 4 years ago ,if not moreso, because it is process-centric not technology-centric. How many times, have we said or heard that to do AI correctly, you need quality data and that us what FoDE us all about -processes that ensure quality data.
Amazing Joe! I can’t believe it’s been four years! I think I found your book 2 years ago thanks to DLAI. Since then it has helped me to develop a new career path that started as side project and it is still developing. I still need to found you in the road to get a signed copy…cheers my friend.
Data Modelling? My gut says it's more than an undercurrent, but doesn't really fit in the end to end process either, yet doesn't quite consume everything - kinda semi omnipotent. Anyways, the big news I really want... When can we pre-order the new book?

Mulling it over too

Stay amazing my friend
It took Martin like 10 years to write 2nd ed of DDIA so you've got time
😂😂
what an amazing book
Thank you
So... Without having to rewrite the whole book... Where do those 2 missing pieces go in the lifecycle diagram?
Finops is an undercurrent. AI/ML is TBD

Soon…very soon
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve checked to see if a release date has come for MMA. I’ve never been this excited for a textbook release before
lol, same. Many false starts. Good things take time. It’s really about to hatch this time…🐣
Can’t wait to buy it!
